The Saving Grace
Infinitely vague, discerning, concerning
everyone around you,
pick me up and use me to mark
your page.
I share a name, a name
with a saint,
but there's a perfectly good
reason that
I'd prefer it if you call me
by my middle name
And it comes in waves,
and it seems to be
the only thing that stays
saves the saving grace
but you don't know how much
you've drowned me in
your lack of sincerity.
You can pretend all you like,
but scars are tattoos as well.
The ones on your sleeves
are scratches at best,
the ones on your mind overpower
all the rest
he's a real good artist, or
so I've been told.
He'll cover up me with
the rest of the ink that
you think has grown old.
And it comes in waves,
and it seems to be
the only thing that stays
saves the saving grace
but you don't know how much
you've drowned me in
your lack of sincerity
Long as it takes
to save the saving grace
you somehow managed
to keep.
Running through your head are
the pictures, and songs and
the words that he said that
just won't let you sleep.
And I wish that I wished you well,
but I think you know me better
than that by now, but how
could I ever compare to someone
who has it all when you're all
that he has?
And it comes in waves,
and it seems to be
the only thing that stays
killed your saving grace
but you don't know how much
you've drowned me in
your lack of sincerity
Long as it takes,
your saving graces.

Shiner
Featuring
Danny Malone
It took a somber night to make me believe
and a few drinks to fix your opinion of me
at least thats how I hope it worked.
And I don't think that you've noticed yet ,it's not the things that
you remember it's the things that the drink forgets.
I'll never, ever mind driving your car home
as long as you're in the backseat
and every time I look in the rearview, our eyes-
And if less, is really more then I won't say word about
how beautiful you look at the convenient store.
It's not the concrete's "average." or the moon's light shining down
it's the burning cigarette that's glowing in your frown.
She keeps looking at me like for one brief second
I am all she sees, but she'll never know that she is
all I've thought about this week and all I want is to have one of
those nights where I'm crashing on your couch, with you
sleeping in the next room, but you end up sleeping
on your couch, too.
I wanted to say "goodbye," before I left town, but
I'll never know if things like that are romantic
or inappropriate. So I guess I'll see you around.
